How To Cut Cauliflower Without Making a Mess (Plus Recipe)

How to cut cauliflower without making a mess plus recipe.

Have you ever wanted to know how to properly cut cauliflower without making a mess?  If so, then this post is for you.

I realize I have a wealth of knowledge when it comes to cooking, nutrition, pantry and kitchen hacks that I just never share because I assume everyone already knows it, or I feel it’s too simple and insignificant to create a blog post on. I just share these tips and tricks on my instagram feed because it’s super easy to film a quick video and hit send.

I recently shared the below video of me cutting cauliflower with my followers and so many people reach out and thanked me, as they had no idea, so I’m sharing with you all today. I’m trying to make an effort to share more on the website, because honestly, I want to make this a one stop place for you all when it comes to cooking, nutrition and kitchen hacks, plus so much more, so get ready! To see the video better, hit full screen.

If you haven’t tried purple cauliflower you must! It’s amazing. We all know the benefits of cauliflower, it’s high in antioxidants, fiber and contains compounds that help detoxify and metabolize estrogen, plus the purple color has flavonoids which support brain health and mood support. I mean who doesn’t love looking at a plate of purple cauliflower.

You should also try the yellow/orange variety when it’s available, as it’s AMAZING!  If you can’t find colored cauliflower you can boost the nutritional value of the standard white variety by adding some turmeric. Try my turmeric roasted cauliflower. It’s kid and hubby approved!

Also, I wanted to share that cauliflower isn’t just for meal time!

This below recipe is so easy and I roast cauliflower all the time for snacking, dinner and lunch meal prep. I love adding it to my salads, as a nutritional boost and warm ingredient. Also, the leaves taste like kale chips when roasted, SO GOOD!

    Ingredients

    • 1 medium head cauliflower, cut into florets (see my video in the above post on how to cut cauliflower)

    • Avocado oil - I love Primal and Chosen, as they both are 100% avocado oil. Read the labels, as some avocado oils can be blends. I use avocado oil, as it's higher heat oil

    • Freshly ground pepper

    Directions

    • Preheat oven to 450 degrees, and line a rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper.

    • Place cauliflower floret, plus leaves on the parchment lined baking sheet. Drizzle the florets with a bit of avocado oil, salt and pepper to taste, and toss to coat. The amount of oil, salt and pepper you use it to taste and also depends on how large your head of cauliflower is.

    • Roast in pre-heated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the cauliflower is soft, browned and a bit crispy, tossing occasionally. Make sure to keep an eye on the leaves as they will brown up quickly, so you will pull them out ahead of the florets.

    • Got leftovers? Feel free to eat the leftover florets cold as a snack, or toss them in a salad. You can also pour a bit of avocado oil into a sauté pan and warm them up over medium heat. I do this all the time, and it's so good!
